Leadership & Board

Becoming an officer.

Officers are the working hands of the chapter. The role is a commitment to scholarship and to the members who rely on us — and a real opportunity to lead something that matters before you ever leave high school.

What the role means

Four pillars guide every officer in our chapter.

Stewardship

Officers carry the standards of the society — scholarship, service, and integrity — into every meeting, tutoring session, and chapter event.

Responsibility

Each role owns a defined slice of chapter operations: programs, communications, member development, or finance. Officers report on their work each term.

Service to Members

Officers exist for the members. The role is not a title — it is the commitment to make tutoring meaningful for every student in the chapter.

Growth

Officers leave the role as stronger leaders, writers, and collaborators — with a record of measurable impact they can carry into college and career.

Responsibilities

What officers commit to.

Seven concrete responsibilities every officer carries throughout their term.

01

Lead chapter communications

Drive announcements and updates so every member stays informed, engaged, and aligned with chapter priorities.

02

Grow our membership

Personally recruit and onboard a minimum of two new members each month to strengthen the chapter.

03

Build agendas & materials

Collaborate on meeting agendas, digital presentations, and official documentation that guide our work.

04

Be reliable & organized

Hold the highest standards of reliability — maintain an active, organized presence within the leadership team.

05

Tutor at least 4 hours / month

Contribute a minimum of four hours of direct tutoring each month to keep our service mission alive.

06

Show up — every meeting

Attend all officer meetings and chapter meetings. Presence is the foundation of leadership.

07

Move initiatives forward

Assist with chapter initiatives end-to-end — from first idea through delivery and follow-up.

How to apply

The path to office.

01

Confirm eligibility

Be an active inducted member in good standing for at least one full term before applying.

02

Submit a written application

Submit a form explaining why you are seeking the role and detailing your relevant experiences. Once submitted, our current officers will review your application and conduct a vote.

03

Interview with the board

Meet with current officers and an advisor for a short conversation about goals, fit, and capacity.

04

Orientation & Induction

Newly chosen Vices will attend an orientation and induction session to prepare for their roles before being officially sworn in at the start of the next term.
